Here is a hint of the things we have been doing in 2024

January

February

At our January meeting we were entertained by Town Cryer Mr Martin Wood, who stepped in at the last minute.  Members laughed their way through the evening with the many stories and anecdotes.

One of our walking groups braved the weather and took The Doorstep Challenge around the town centre discovering beautiful mosaics which advertised local businesses from yesteryear.

March

April

May

In March we celebrated our 92nd birthday with a 3 course meal in the Memorial Hall, which was enjoyed by 62 of our members.

Marcus from Midland Air Ambulance Charity joined us and was presented with a cheque for £1155.00.  After the business had been concluded we had chance to make birdbox bunting - lead by the Craft Club.

We welcomed 3 visitors to our May meeting with speakers  father and son Brian and Michael McCarthy.

Hearing about the journey Michael has travelled since a life changing injury at 8 years old was inspiring. Numerous obstacles have presented themselves since that time but they have not stopped his determination to achieving his goals; too many to mention.

Perseverance means he is a published author and story teller, as well a running his Hairy Lemon Workshops which support young people gain the ability to reach their goals in life.

June

July

August

Sept

For our June meeting we welcomed Vic Graham who spoke about 'The Biscuit Club'.

In July we were joined by Bev and Ray Langton of Shrewsbury Morris, who gave us a brief history of Morris Dancing, demonstrated some steps, and got members joining in.

In August a number of members enjoyed a picnic on The Common, which was a chance to catchup.

Our table top show was held in September when we welcomed everyone back after the summer break.

October

November

December

Jason Davenhill was our speaker in October telling of his experiences as a helicopter pilot. While the ladies in the long walk group tackled Wilderhope.

At the beginning of November three ladies attended the Christmas Bauble Workshop at County Office, and the short walk group undertook the postponed walk over Lyth Hill passing Lower Lythwood Hall on the return.
